Aging into Medicare –Are You Prepared?
Nearly four-million Baby Boomers age into Medicare every year with an average of more than 10,000 per. With current enrollment rates, there will be more than 80 million Medicare enrollees by 2030. With so many people approaching Medicare eligibility, companies have aggressively increased marketing strategies leading to abundant television commercials, piles of mail, and lots of confusion.
IMPORTANT FIRST STEP
We recommend a meeting with one of our local agents at least 6 months prior to your 65th birthday. This may seem like to is way too soon but there are important conversations to have about your options, what Medicare covers and doesn’t cover, and your actual enrollment into Medicare Parts A and B. Meeting with a local agent is imperative because we have established clients locally and understand how plans work with your current doctors and hospitals. Imagine getting a plan from an 800 number that doesn’t include your favorite doctor or world class hospitals like the Cleveland Clinic – yes it happens!
Our next post will highlight the Medicare Enrollment Window for those turning 65. For most people, you can enroll during a seven-month window including the three months before your birthday, the month of your birthday, and the three months after your birthday.
